(SAMS) was invited to give remarks on April 9, 2014 at a press conference on Capitol Hill for the U.S. House of Representatives, House Committee on Small Business release of a report on the impact of the “Ryan Budget” on Small Business. The press conference was headed by the Honorable Nydia Velazquez, the ranking Democratic member of the committee. She is the author of the Women’s Procurement Program, an initiative that has helped Federal agencies boost women’s participation in the Federal marketplace. “For Small Businesses to thrive, they require an environment that is conducive for growth.” Rep. Velazquez said. She also authored H.R. 2452, the “Women’s Procurement Program Equalization Act”, which allows agencies to target certain Federal contracts to women-owned firms.
“Rep. Velazquez is an outspoken advocate for Small Business and women entrepreneurs,” Ms. Redmon said following the press conference. “I am grateful for her work to ensure that women entrepreneurs are afforded equal opportunities to succeed as their male counterparts.”
