Strategy and Management Services, Inc. (SAMS)’ President and CEO, Staci Redmon, Attends Opening of New Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC); Continues Commitment to Support of Local Entrepreneurship, Veteran Community

The award-winning federal government contracting firm attends ribbon-cutting event, extends its support for veterans and the local business arena as new VBOC opens in Springfield, VA

SPRINGFIELD, VA – May 26, 2015 – Strategy and Management Services, Inc. (SAMS), an award-winning, SBA 8(a) program participant, verified SDVOSB, EDWOSB, SBA-certified SDB small business, and Commonwealth of Virginia SWaM certified company who provides operations support, information technology services, facilities management functions, and a range of complex other services and solutions for customers across the federal government, announces today that its President and CEO, Staci Redmon, attended the ribbon-cutting event for the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) held by the Community Business Partnership (CBP) in Springfield, VA.

The CBP is one of 15 locations in the country that now house a VBOC.  The mission of the VBOC is to help create, develop, and retain veteran-owned small business enterprises. To accomplish this, the VBOC fosters a culture of engagement, growth, and inclusion to help veterans re-integrate into civilian life following a period of military service while providing them with proven, essential tools to drive their success in a variety of entrepreneurial pursuits.

“We are thrilled to announce the opening of the new VBOC in partnership with the Springfield CBP,” said VBOC Acting Director, Charles McCaffrey. “The center of our mission is to support our local veteran community, and through our numerous programs, including “Entrepreneurial Pathway” and “Boots to Business,” to provide them with the resources they need to transition from military life to business success. We are proud to be leading this movement for ‘inclusive entrepreneurship’ in our area, and continue to appreciate Staci, SAMS, and all of the other support we have received thus far.”

Involved with the CBP since founding SAMS in 2008, the recent VBOC event holds particular significance to Staci, herself a 20-year federal service veteran, who has held roles in uniform, as a civil servant, and an industry contractor. Staci herself also received a number of resources from the CBP first-hand as she built her business in its early days while a resident in the CBP Business Incubation Center (BIC), including:

  • Business counseling,
  • Mentorship,
  • Training in a range of soft skills,
  • Ongoing encouragement and support; and
  • Access to networking opportunities.

“It was an incredible experience to be present to support the opening of the VBOC in Springfield, VA,” SAMS’ President and CEO, Staci Redmon said. “As a veteran and a business owner who has personally received and benefited from the multitude of services the CBP offers, I continue to proudly support this new move to bring continued resources, encouragement, and inspiration to our nation’s veterans, who are true drivers of our region’s entrepreneurial growth and evolution.”

This involvement furthers and underscores Staci’s personal commitment to the veteran and local business communities, as well as SAMS’ long-standing culture of inspiring and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit while driving employment opportunities and growth across the local region. At the center of SAMS’ mission is the vision to “Exceed Expectations with People Who Make a Difference,” which has been the engine for the company’s significant local leadership, job creation, totaling over 52 new jobs in the last year in greater Washington DC region alone, and ongoing efforts to create and nurture entrepreneurial opportunities for veterans, women, and many other local groups.

One such example of its commitment to this goal is SAMS’ recent participation on a panel discussion hosted by the Greater Washington Urban League Young Professionals’ Thursday Network (TN), which featured a dynamic group of speakers including, Avery Leake, owner of Avery’s Bar and Lounge in Washington, DC; Daniel Thomas, Celebrity Chef & Author; and rising local entrepreneur and founder of TeamBlueprint, LLC, Hakeem Harmon, on the topic of “Turning Passion into Profit,” encouraging the young professionals who attended the event to become future business leaders themselves and providing the stepping stones to do so. Along with the other speakers, Staci shared her story and provided expert entrepreneurial insight and guidelines to how she’s developed a successful business. SAMS and its employees also lead a number of other events throughout the year to give back to the local community, including an eyeglass drive, Toys for Tots, an annual backpack drive, and hosting safety awareness events. Under Staci’s leadership, SAMS also contributes 1% of its yearly profits to veteran associations, as well as Operation Homefront and Relay for Life.
